I use the traditional materials
of sculpture: stone, wood and bronze. These materials have a timeless
quality which makes them relevant to sculptors working in any era.
I also work with mild-steel, strongly associated with 20th century
sculpture generally and Anthony Caro in particular.
The individual characteristics of these materials facilitate the various
ways in which I work.
I move freely from abstract to figurative / symbolic forms and shapes
to realise ideas that originate from a wide variety of starting points.
References to historical dates, simple natural forms, household objects,
typify the range of my source material.
I view my working methods as processes of discovery seeking to give
form to subject-matter in collaboration with materials rather than
imposing pre-conceived ideas.
